Hello five minutes to run something in the simulator (takes about two seconds from XCode), having to manually edit XML when creating GUIs and frequent crashing and slowdowns of Eclipse.

Do I Need Xcode For Eclipse C++ Free From AppleNow Im pretty sure I can get an older copy for free from Apple, but it appears from what I can see, Xcode is only for Macs. It is not to my awareness. Though it might still be doable with certain hacks) iOS development officially requires a Macintosh investment. Do I Need Xcode For Eclipse C++ Mac OS X AndDo I Need Xcode For Eclipse C++ Mac OS X And WillSeeing how the Objective-C language, Apples frameworks and developer tools all work together is a valuable lesson and makes you think this is how all platforms should work As a computer science student, you will realize the power and elegance of Mac OS X and will likely never go back to Windows afterwards, Ive seen it many, many times. Buying Mac Mini which is a sad joke and underpowered for anything else except media player is very bad investment. Unless of course you are already part of the Apple cult and want an overpriced media player instead of some DLNA box. Absolute control dictated by Steve Jobs who slaps 18 years age limit to download non-Safari browrsers from App Store is a valuable lesson of how platforms should work in North Korea. Buying Mac Mini which is a sad joke (underpowered for anything else except media player) is about the worst investment somebody can make. Not talking about the drag and drop programming of UIs or Apps, but the actual code writing and debugging part is generally considered to be the weakest link in XCode. Not gonna comment on xcode, as its clearly on its way to a flame war. But yes you need a mac to develop for iOS (and the key reason i will never buy a mac is just that). Problem is just that with xcode its just for the mac, talk about limiting their developmental base, and no a mac will never in a thousand years of development pull me away from Linux. Debugging and testing are one of the things that are lightyears ahead of anything on any other platform. If you ever actually do decide to try XCode, take a look at the Run with Performance Tool and Build and Analyze options, I guarantee you will be amazed if youve ever written Android or Windows Mobile code before.
